Special September Days
It really is interesting how time progresses and what you can achieve in that time.
It is a time of reflection at the moment. Three years ago, I had been on a steam train ride to the Carnival of Flowers, not a care in the world. I was not far off going on a first date with the man I would marry.
I was also not far off undertaking an interview with my current employers and giving notice, experiencing some of the most challenging behaviour in that last four weeks of service. From our first date to when I moved in with him, it was 3.5 months. Sometimes you just know and being that little bit older, why waste time. Life moved fast. So in the first 4 months of our time together, I realised this was a serious relationship, changed employment (which was happening anyway), packed up and moved. These sorts of moves are not without impact.
I could never have anticipated that he who was never marrying again and she who did not care whether she did or did not get married, would marry. Twelve months ago, on the second anniversary of our first date, we exchanged rings. We married nine weeks later. Twelve months on, we have not yet managed a honeymoon as the break we had planned for April 2020 was cancelled with that pesky problem called Covid. We have, however, booked a lovely anniversary get away for November on the Sunshine Coast after the concepts for Penang, Tasmania and Kangaroo Island were also affected. And just to add to the first anniversary, and keeping in mind the concept of paper for the first anniversary, we committed to a mortgage. So, I guess there’s still a bit happening at crazy pace for us.
To add to our craziness, twelve months ago we decided to trade two cars for one, our new car arrived shortly after our wedding. I am grateful for the slow down that Covid brought. It has been a chance to re-evaluate to some degree. It has brought other and different opportunities. It has made me appreciate the slower time, reading and just being. Life is good. We are happy to explore the roads by motorbiking and also by driving and this is our current plan – which hopefully will be effective once a month, with the goal being to go somewhere we have not explored before whenever possible or at least take roads we have not been along before. It’s been hectic! I suspect it might continue but hopefully at a slightly quieter pace. Here’s cheers.
The last couple of weekends have been really lovely so here’s some late photographs traipsing through our adventures. Never stop laughing, exploring or doing new things.
