January 2021 – that was a bit quick
….and all of a sudden we are at the end of January, one-twelfth of the way through 2021. It’s been an interesting month, from relative freedom to a temporary lockdown to relative freedom again. That pesky virus will take significant time to conquer. The flu virus has been around a long time and we have not conquered it. So, we adapt and accept, for now, that we need to change what we do.
There’s not a lot of creative juices flowing at the moment. There’s a withdrawal and an aversion to people and being around too many, even though I look forward to going back to my work environment of seeing colleagues. There’s a weariness, maybe that comes from having limited proper downtime/holidays for 2.5 years. There is also today what feels like a cold – so, maybe I am run down and more tired than I had though.
The month opened with a steam train ride. The month closes with quietitude – pottering around the house, looking at the leaves on the plants in the garden, annoying a sewing machine and re-building a motorbike engine. There’s also a little nap in the afternoon.
We travelled far and wide through wine and a little food, we have caught up with dear friends. We have planned some further adventures and we now even have a porta potty so we can literally go anywhere. We have enjoyed the thunderstorms and beautiful rains, regenerated gardens and overordered soil. We have grumbled about the summer humidity.
It has been a busy yet not over-taxing month. It is a little recovery from what has gone and a little preparation for what is ahead. We have changed leave arrangements and changed holiday plans separate from the adventures. So, cheers and thank you to January and all she brought us including a spectacularly bright full moon.
